Pensando socialidade violenta no “bairro feito de pontes”

Abstract

The present study aims to evaluate the "violence" in the neighborhood of the Baixada do Ambrósio. What I'm trying to clarify is how the "common sense" of the neighborhood resident manages notions of "belonging" and "identity" to contextualize circumvent and even use "violent sociabilities" (relations that take violence as a constituent aspect of it). I seek to problematize how the relations between residents and "professional criminals" make it possible to produce regions where illicit activities are carried out paradoxically by criminal groups and simultaneously produce safety and recognition: the fronteiras. To arrive at this conclusion, I must present the enigmatic native appreciation for relations with parceiros, people with whom reciprocal relations are constituted both for recognition and for maintaining security, pointing out that the socialities in the neighborhood are only made possible through them.
