Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the importance of religious assistance in the process of reintegration of the prisoners in the Penitentiary Institute of the State of Amapá - IAPEN to the society. It is a bibliographical research and field research with information collected from interviews with volunteers who perform religious work inside the penitentiary complex, ex-detainees and the Amapá Penitentiary Council. It sought to present the rights set out in specific legislation, namely the Magna Carta and in particular, the Law on Criminal Executions - LEP, which guarantees the victims the right to this kind of assistance of fundamental importance in the reconstruction of a new trajectory of Life to the human being willing to reintegrate society with a significant change in their behavior, this obtained through their participation in a religious context and professing their faith to receive voluntary religious assistance inside the prison.
