Extração do óleo de coco e a fabricação de sabão: uma abordagem para a aprendizagem de funções orgânica envolvidas na reação de saponificação

Abstract

This work aimed to evaluate the learning of third year students in relation to the organic functions involved in the saponification reaction, using coconut oil extraction and soap production as a method of intervention. The didactic intervention was carried out at Colégio Amapaense, located in the Central district of the municipality of Macapá. The intervention was carried out in two moments, the first was started with a theoretical class on the theme: Extraction of coconut oil and the manufacture of soap, an approach for learning organic functions involved in the saponification reaction, followed application of an initial diagnostic questionnaire to probe what students learned from the class taught and survey of students' prior knowledge about the topic. The analysis of the results obtained with their corrections showed that the vast majority of students were able to assimilate well the concepts of organic functions involved in the saponification reaction. The second moment, students were shown the most common methods of extracting coconut oil and the production of soap illustrated through slides. After that moment, another questionnaire was applied to the students to probe again what the students had assimilated from this part of the intervention. In the analysis of this second questionnaire, it can be seen that students were able to better assimilate the concepts passed on to them about the organic functions involved in the saponification reaction. Therefore, it can be concluded that this type of intervention to improve students' learning contributes significantly to a more solid learning in the discipline of Chemistry
