Resumo
Anxiety is a vague and unpleasant feeling of fear and apprehension, characterized by tension or discomfort in anticipation of real or uncertain danger that, when excessive, becomes pathological. According to a study carried out by the LAL Institute, 63% of the male population suffers some degree of anxiety, historically men are seen by society as invulnerable, causing various damages to this population. Men's health has been slowly included in the public health agenda since the launch of the National Policy for Integral Attention to Men's Health (PNAISH). However, health professionals need to incorporate a qualified and targeted look, making health care more efficient and effective, through the integration of complementary alternative practices (PIC), highlighting Chinese auriculotherapy, which is a method that uses the ear for diagnosis and treatment of various diseases, through the use of needles, ridges, seeds, etc. Which act through a reflexmechanism in the auricle. The general objective of the study was to demonstrate the effectiveness of anxiety treatment in male patients, treated at the Basic Health Unit of the Federal University of Amapá, using auriculotherapy as a complementary therapy. Materials and Methods The study is a retrospective qualitativequantitative type and was conducted at the Basic Health Unit (UBS), located at the Federal University of Amapá UNIFAP, where there was a sample of 33 male patients where their anxiety levels were evaluated through their scores every 7 days through the application of the questionnaire (BECK) and treated with the use of auricurotherapy as a complementary therapy using mustard seeds fixed in adhesive on the points established in the protocol employed, after three weeks of treatment the data were tabulated and statistically analyzed. Results, auriculotherapy showed positive results in the decrease of anxiety scores, comparing the data of the 13 patients who continued in the second and third week of consultation/intervention, it was noted that 11 (84.61%) of the patients had a large decrease in the score of anxiety compared to the first and second appointments/intervention and 2 (15, 39%) maintained their increased score levels. According to the statistical analysis, ANOVA, the third week of treatment showed significant results in relation to the second week (p<0.0149) and in relation to the first week (p< 0.0001), confirming that the protocol used was satisfactory for anxiety reduction.
