Resumo
The general objective of this master's thesis is to investigate aspects of the education of young
people in the Amapá Amazon in dialog with the National Common Core Curriculum for Secondary
Education (Base Nacional Comum Curricular do Ensino Médio - BNCC-EM), understanding the
power struggles surrounding education, its ideological discourse and the economic action of
hegemonic groups that influence educational and social policies. The research uses a qualitative
approach and involves a field study with high school students and educators from the public school
system to address their perceptions of the curricular changes related to the implementation of the
BNCC-EM in the Amapá Amazon, specifically in the municipality of Serra do Navio. The main
authors addressed in the theoretical discussion include Rocha & Tosta (2013), Geertz (2008),
Evangelista (2018), Medeiros & Hage (2020), Freire (2014), Cunha (2007), Mészáros (2008),
Laval (2019), Apple (2008), among others. The method and methodological procedures used are
centered on Dialectical Historical Materialism involving the categories of totality, contradiction
and mediation; discourse analysis is also used to treat the research findings. The analysis is carried
out by investigating criticisms of the BNCC-EM, educational reforms and changes in the secondary
school curriculum. Possible results include understanding the economic and political influences on
the implementation of the BNCC-EM, identifying the social inequalities resulting from educational
reforms and contributing to the critical debate on the new training model and its impacts on the
education of young people, especially in peripheral regions. This research aims to contribute to the
scientific community by promoting critical debate on educational policies, social inequalities and
cultural diversity in the Amapá Amazon, as well as analyzing the effects of the implementation of
the BNCC-EM in the regional context in the municipality of Serra do Navio-AP. There is an urgent
need to rethink and promote changes in educational policies and practices that aim to provide a
more comprehensive education suited to the specific characteristics of the Amazon region, since
students' education in learning about memories, traditional knowledge and Amazonian identities is
secularized, and entrepreneurship and flexible human education that adapts to market changes are
prioritized in the research schools in the municipality of Serra do Navio. In addition, teacher
training is flexible and light in order to manage the new format of secondary education, which
demands quality in elective classes and life projects, and the teacher is often blamed. However,
teaching is hampered by the lack of resources and teaching materials adapted to the local reality
and its identities, generating dissatisfaction among students, as some do not identify with the
training itineraries planned and developed by the teachers and their pedagogical coordinators.
