Resumo

The environmental theme has become a recurring issue since the mid-twentieth century, as a consequence of the environmental crisis that began with the exploitation of resources. From this context, it is observed that it is within the cities that these environmental problems are becoming worse, since the rapid growth of cities directly influences the increase of environmental degradation. This phenomenon, very common in large metropolises, is a phenomenon that has been occurring even in small and medium cities, as is the case of Macapá (Amapá - Brazil). Marked by a late urbanization, Macapá adopted a model of urbanization marked by the lack of urban public policies, mainly in the educational and housing sectors, resulting in numerous problems, among them environmental degradation, which consequently increases socio-environmental problems. In this context, environmental education has been presented as the most important tool to mitigate these problems. Thus, this monograph seeks to understand the process of degradation that the Amazonian cities have been passing, taking as a case study the city of Macapá. With the main objective of producing a pilot project of a traveling environmental education school with the aim of improving the degrading and vulnerable condition that the whole city has been experiencing and benefiting the entire population of the municipality, contributing directly to a medium balanced urban environment and, consequently, a balanced natural environment.
