Resumo
Introduction: Sleep disorders are associated with dysfunctions of physiological adaptation to epigenetic processes and influenced by allostatic load. In this context, the use of neuromodulation by Radio Electric Asymmetric Conveyer (REAC) technology is justified by its clinical applicability in mood and behavior disorders, such as anxiety, depression, and stress, which are strongly linked to sleep disorders. Objective: evaluate the impact of reprogramming Endogenous Bioelectrical Activity (EBA), the target of REAC technology, on sleep disturbances in family caregivers of patients with Parkinson's Disease (PD). Material and Methods: The participants were submitted to an evaluation of sleep parameters with the following instruments: Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS), Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) and Stanford Sleepiness Scale (SSS) and an Anxiety, Depression and Stress Scale (DASS-21), all applied before and after the intervention with REAC technology. Subjects were randomly and blindly assigned to an Intervention Group (IG) that received Neuro Postural Optimization (NPO) and Neuro Psychophysical Optimization (NPPO) and a Control Group (CG). This study followed the parameters established by the Consort 2022. Results: There was significant improvement in the levels of excessive sleepiness - ESE: (z=1.94;p<0.05); ESS: (z=3.06; p<0.05); insomnia - EIA: (z=3.23; p<0.05); IGI: (t(19)=4.04; p<0.05); sleep quality - PSQI: (t(19)=5.70; p<0.05); Depression: (t(19)=2.77; p<0.05); Anxiety: (z=2.55; p<0.05), however, there was no difference in self-perceived stress (z=1.19; p>0.05). Functional Dysmetry (FD) of GI showed a result of (t(19)=12.12; p<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in any of the parameters evaluated in the CG. Conclusions: REAC neuromodulation showed promising results on sleep parameters, highlighting the therapeutic effects of REAC on sleep quality.
