Perfil clínico-epidemiológico-medicamentoso dos pacientes com doença de Parkinson atendidos em um projeto de extensão

Abstract

Objective: To characterize the clinical-epidemiological and pharmacological profile of patients with Parkinson’s disease followed in an extension project in Amapá. Methods: This is an observational, cross-sectional, and descriptive study conducted with 42 patients, in the state of Amapá. Data were collected through interviews, medical record review, and application of clinical instruments, and were subjected to descriptive statistical analysis. Results: There was a predominance of male individuals (64.3%), with a mean age of 69 years and a higher frequency in the intermediate stages of the disease (45.24%). Comorbidities were present in 47.62% of the cases. Polypharmacy was observed in 66.67% of the sample, with a mean of 5.76 medications per patient/day. The combined use of medications obtained through the public health system (SUS) and private purchase was the most frequent (66.67%). Conclusion: The study demonstrates a high level of clinical and therapeutic complexity, with a high frequency of polypharmacy, presence of comorbidities, and significant medication burden, highlighting the need for continuous monitoring and a multidisciplinary approach in the care of patients with Parkinson’s disease. As limitations, the cross-sectional design, the small sample size, and the conduct in a single center may restrict the generalizability of the findings.
