Resumo
The present study, titled “Order and Progress? Standardization and control actions in the school group Barão do Rio Branco de Macapá/AP (1944-1956)”, discusses the educational policy of the aforementioned primary education institution, delimited to the performance of Janary Gentil Nunes, the first governor of Former Federal of Amapá. The impetus for this theme has resided in the interest in problematizing how educational actions of standardization and control subordinated to the nationalist discourse of order and progress were disseminated in the scope of the GE Barão do Rio Branco (installed in Macapá, capital Territorial), in order to contribute to the development of a policy of socioeconomic-cultural integration of the TFA to the national context, in the period from 1944 to 1956. It had, therefore, the general objective of investigating the actions, practices and educational cultures in the GE Barão do Rio Branco, based on the territorial Government plan. The specific objectives were: to understand the role of the school in the Construction of society (in a historical perspective); Characterize the educational policy of the school groups in the Brazilian context, as a sign of order and progress in the Republican imaginary; Analyze the GE Barão do Rio Branco as (re) producer of actions/practices/cultures of standardization and social, political, economic and cultural control of the macapaenses. Thus, it was a research of a qualitative nature and documental type, searching historical sources, among which stand out the report of the activities of the Government of the TFA, the newspaper Amapá, and the photographic records of the time. These documents, analyzed in the light of Cultural history and the Indicarian paradigm, revealed strong evidence that Janary Nunes saw in the respective educandary the possibility of modifying, domesticating and training the body and mind of the popular, through the establishment of norms and sanctions, so that the Macapanese population exercises tasks as good citizens, avoiding infraining the norms established by the territorial power that would play the critical and objectionable spirit of the subjects against the practices Authoritarian obligations imposed by the Governor
