Resumo

The present research is about Teaching Work in Higher Education. The general objective is to analyze the teaching work at the Federal University of Amapá (UNIFAP) - Campus Marco Zero, based on the new configurations assumed by the Brazilian university, in the context of the Counter Reformation and Expansion of Higher Education, focusing on the process of intensification and precarization of work activities. The specific objectives are to situate teaching work in Higher Education, in the context of State Counter-Reformation and the logic of productive restructuring; to discuss the teaching work, based on the REUNI policies, considering its implications for the processes of commodification and transnationalization of teaching work present in the Expansion of Brazilian Higher Education; to characterize the teaching activities developed at UNIFAP, starting from the working day, working conditions, academic productivity, and labor relations with the suffering and sickness of the teacher, signaling relations with the intensification and precarization of work. The research problem stems from the following question: how have the new configurations assumed by the Brazilian university, in the context of the Counter-Reformation and Expansion of Higher Education, have implied in the process of intensification and precarization of teaching work in UNIFAP? We define categories of object analysis as: a) working conditions, b) university expansion, and c) reconfigurations of teaching work. The research is qualitative and quantitative (GAMBOA, 2008), anchored in the method of Historical Materialism Dialectic. For analysis and interpretation of the data, we focus on Content Analysis (BARDIN, 1977; FRANCO, 2008). For that, a bibliographic research was done about the subject, as well as a questionnaire applied to the research subjects, who are the actual faculty working in the twelve Undergraduate Courses of UNIFAP, which emerged during and after the REUNI, and composing different areas of knowledge. The research locus was UNIFAP (Marco Zero Campus). The present dissertation is structured in three sections, besides the introduction and the final considerations. In the first section we deal with the category of work and teaching work in capitalism, we then discuss the process of productive restructuring and the changes arising in the world of work and, later, we discuss the State Counter-Reformation and its implications in Higher Education. In the second section we discuss the implications of REUNI for the Expansion of Higher Education and for teaching work, and then we discuss the mediations constituted in the process of commodification and current educational transnationalization. In the third section, the activities of the professors in UNIFAP are characterized, as well as the conception of these teachers on the intensification of work, and finally, the results of this Research Study are presented. The results indicate that the processes of Productive Restructuring, State Counter Reformation and University Expansion provoked the consolidation of the intensification of the teaching work in UNIFAP. In addition to this problem, the precariousness of the work is also present in the work of the professors who work in the ambit of the Undergraduate and Post-Graduation in UNIFAP
