Gênero e pós-humanismo no cinema de ficção científica: uma análise sociológica do filme Ex_Machina

Abstract

This article presents a sociological analysis of the film Ex_Machina, dealing with questions and gender issues in a context of technological transformations in contemporary times, based on a reading the way the film represents this phenomenon. Therefore, the method chosen was the internal analysis sociology of the film, proposed by Pierre Sorlin (1985), as well as a literature review relevant to the theme. As theoretical foundation, it was sought in the theories of Donna Haraway (2009) and Judith Butler (2003) the main references for the construction of the analysis, together with the contribution of other authors that deal with gender, technology and other important issues for this work. Thus, the article first deals with the possible concepts of Science Fiction, in order to allow a closer approach of the reader to the object of analysis. Subsequently, the focus is on the relationships between human beings and technologies in the world. contemporary, addressing in what sense these relationships are manifest within the film, which is associated with to the approach presented below: gender relations and behaviors elaborated in social and culture, and also how this phenomenon can be interpreted from the film. Finally, the analysis concludes that, even though the fictional context of the film features the use of complex and futuristic technology (in terms of the film), the relationships between the characters are based on traditional gender beliefs and symbolism.
