O cotidiano do trabalho doméstico gratuito de mulheres em Serra do Navio/AP (1960-1976)

Abstract

This study is within the field of social history of Labour and aims to analyze gender and class relations in the Company Towns of Serra do Navio/Ap during the operation of Indústria e Comércio de Minérios S.A. between the years 1960 and 1976. Analising interviews of former residents, editions of the magazine Icomi Notícias, annual health reports and procedural standards as sources, Thais research aimed to understand what the daily life of these women was like, the internal and external demands they had, how they acted accordingly and the paths that Icomi chose to try to mold them into its standards. This study's main contribution is the understanding that free domestic work done by women is of significant importance in the Icomi Project, both in the perpetuation of this free work and in the care of industry employees. To achieve these objectives we use the concept of entangled subsistence work. As methodological resources we will apply the notes of Alberti (2008) for oral sources, De Luca (2008) for periodicals and Bacellar (2008) for documentary sources.
