Perspectivas do reaproveitamento do caroço de açaí em Santana-AP

Abstract

The improper disposal of açaí seeds in the municipality of Santana, Amapá, has caused significant environmental impacts, including soil and water contamination, as well as the proliferation of disease vectors. This study investigated the potential for reusing this waste, aiming to minimize its negative effects and promote sustainable alternatives. An exploratory, quantitative approach was employed, combining a literature review and primary data collection through questionnaires administered to açaí harvesters. The results showed that a large portion of the waste is discarded uncontrollably, and the lack of effective public policies hinders its economic and environmental valorization. In response, the study proposes the creation of a cooperative for the collection and processing of the seeds, enabling their use as biomass, industrial inputs, and raw materials for new products. It concludes that the implementation of sustainable strategies can not only mitigate environmental impacts but also foster a circular economy in the region, promoting social inclusion, job creation, and income generation.
