Resumo

Community radios play a key role in our society. Through their programs, they provide opportunities for forgotten and marginalized minorities to have a voice. In this way, this research seeks to answer whether the community radios of Macapá, located in the neighborhoods Perpétuo Socorro, Mucajá and Porto do Céu, are tools to promote the rupture of the Espiral do Silêncio. Therefore, to seek to answer this problem, the study analyzes how radios promote this rupture, through the participation of the receiver- listener. The investigation is justified, as it is necessary to understand how this type of radio communication vehicle becomes a tool of resistance for marginalized populations. Furthermore, the radio presents itself as a new source of research to the academic environment, which can instigate studies on the subject. This research was developed through a bibliographic study linked to the field study, establishing interviews with people who are directly involved with community radio stations in Macapá, the locus of the research. Based on the assumptions, it was found that community radios are in fact one of the ways that Macapa communities, studied from August to September of the year 2020, use to break the spiral of silence. However, in the context in question, it was also evident that the realization of this assumption involves the awareness of those who administer and manage these radios as active participants in the process of breaking the silencing of the mainstream media. Finally, it is necessary to promote the role of social actors in the communities where the radios are located and, mainly, to instigate the construction of a critical conscience in the populations affected by the programs of these vehicles.
