Assistência a pessoa com transtorno mental em Macapá: uma etnografia sobre a aplicação da Política Nacional de Saúde Mental na realidade local

Abstract

The popular movement called psychiatric reform broke out in Brazil since the 90s and brought the main claim the end of asylums and a service model based on human rights and the principles of citizenship, given that the abuse people with disorders mental, and even homicides, were frequently being reported by family members, former patients and to employees' own psychiatric hospitalization places. It was only in 2001, with Law 10.216, which was the promulgation of the National Policy on Mental Health (PNSM) that sought to redeem the rights of these people with mental disorders, making it an achievement celebrated by social movements who fought so hard for the cause. However, the effectiveness of this policy depends on a network infrastructure to provide support and information to families of diseased, since deinstitutionalization brought the family to care responsibility with that familiar entity that needs special attention. In this sense, we seek through this monograph, to survey as being effective to PNSM, available through the Unified Health System (SUS) in the city of Macapá, State of Amapá through the Hospital de Clínicas Alberto Lima (HCAL), as well as analyzing this assistance the person in psychological distress and his family after the implementation of the policy.
