Resumo

Quilombola communities are defined as groups with their own trajectory during the period of slavery. They present characteristics of resistance, which made it possible to keep alive diverse traditions and cultural aspects remaining from Afro-descendant peoples. However, this was also the reason for their segregation from society, constituting several socioeconomic difficulties. In Amapá, the Quilombo do Curiaú community stands out, certified by INCRA and with a long history and tradition about the culture of Marabaixo and Batuque. Due to socioeconomic and health difficulties, it is necessary to evaluate the use of medicines in this population, with emphasis on allopathic medicines, whether prescribed by a qualified professional or not, evaluating possible drug interactions and the practice of polypharmacy. For this, was used a standardized self-authored questionnaire consisting of 38 questions, divided into 4 aspects, sociodemographic, health information, use of medicines and herbal medicines, in addition to adherence to pharmacotherapy for hypertensive patients, whose application takes place through a direct interview with patient. Within the studied population, sociodemographic data were analyzed and described, in which the female gender can be highlighted as the predominant use of medication. Among the most frequent drugs within the studied population, drugs such as anti-inflammatory and antihypertensive drugs stand out, 47,7% of the drugs mentioned are related to self-medication. Anti-inflammatory drugs were the ones most involved in self-medication, probably due to their ease of obtaining and their free commercialization, the so-called over-the-counter drugs. In general, the consumption of allopathic medicines is lower than in other populations, however, there is a high (75,32%) prevalence of the use of medicinal plants, mainly in the form of teas. This finding is relevant for understanding population dynamics and establishing better guidelines for the use of allopathic medicines and medicinal plants
