Medo social: representações do crime e da violência na baixada do Ambrósio

Abstract

The present work intends to discuss the representations of fear and the changes of some social habits, from the generation of fear of crime and violence, and how they are constituted and experienced in the Baixada do Ambrósio, located in the port area of municipality of Santana in the state of Amapá. For the preparation of this article, the methodology used was the literature review, in addition to field research. The analysis categories: violence, fear and territory seek to contextualize the lived experience and the intensification of the conflict between insecurity and the daily life of the residents of this locus. Thus, they become contribution to the understanding of other possible social dynamics. This article analyzes the fear and social insecurity present in this locality, and elaborates a reflection on the fear associated with criminality, its consequences on social relations; properly us individual behaviors resulting from fear, insofar as they regulate time for enter and exit, according to their perceptions of risk, based on the local dynamics of the violence. Field observations point to distrust among people in the neighborhood, especially to teenagers; the distanced social life; abandonment of public power and weakening of citizenship.
