Resumo

The main objective of this study is to understand how a gay deaf person deals with homodeafphobia in their educational, school and professional processes. Specifically, a professor who works in the Bachelor's Degree in Letters/Libras at the Federal University of Amapá. Considering the trajectory of this professor, the following research problem emerges: how does a deaf, gay, teacher, from the North of Brazil deal with homodeafphobia in their educational path? For the methodological conclusion, the research technique will be biographical research, since biographical accounts are objects that historicize, and that represent and reflect, based on different languages, values and beliefs, on personal perspectives and their insertions in cultural and political contexts. The narrative interview was established as the data collection instrument. To reach this subject, the approach known as “Intentional non probabilistic sampling” was used, which is a form of non-probabilistic sampling that uses reference chains. Therefore, the focus is to introduce a new term, although unknown in LGBTQIAPN+phobia studies: homosdeafphobia. It represents the countless subalternizations that LGBTQIAPN+ deaf people experience in their journeys due to the intersectionality of their identity markers. For the analysis of the interviews, this research was based on the field of Freirean decolonial pedagogy, which allowed us to listen to narratives and work with them, since Freirean decolonial analysis is a transformative tool that restores the dignity of marginalized subjects, combats the perpetuation of inequalities and contributes to the construction of a more just, inclusive and humanized society. As main results, we infer that the research participant not only went through moments of deafphobia, which represents intellectual prejudice, during his schooling, but also faces limitations in his practice as a teacher. Sometimes feeling distant, especially in interactions with other hearing gays due to the language barrier, he experienced these adversities that transcend the issue of deafness, reflecting on his professional performance and the dynamics of his personal relationships.
