Parque cultural do meio do mundo: revitalização do monumento Marco Zero do Equador e entorno na cidade de Macapá – AP

Abstract

This research aims to discuss and explain the aspects concerning the building of efficient, beautiful, comfortable and functional urban spaces, highlighting the necessary qualities of the project of these spaces, so as to make them to have vitality and to be capable of develop and brace physical bonds with the city and psychological bonds to its habitants. The development of the research occurred by a case study of Marco Zero do Equador (Equador’s Zero Mark) monument and surroundings, in the city of Macapá/AP, a space that, although it is involved in outstanding symbolism, which proclaims its unicity character, it doesn’t find a worthy reflection in spatiality, once that currently this space plays a secondary role in the landscape, does not interacts with the sorroundings and neither with its users. Therefore, this work is also directed to offer a proposal of physical intervention to highlight the importance of Marco Zero, to communicate through the architecture its real paper in the urban context of the city of Macapá by incorporating in the projectual conception some higher aspects instead of its mere condition of referential geographical mark, merging social, economic and cultural features. In this research it was applied the dialectical method, finding basement in previous theories and studies regarding the urban space, in addition to historic and anthropological approaches, themed repertoire research and analysis of the physical conditioning of the area, in order to reach the viability and efficiency of the revitalization proposal of the Marco Zero do Equador monument and surroundings.
