Resumo
The theme of this paper is the benefits of Resistance Training for adolescents in the
educational context, understanding its importance in the basic motor skills to be developed in this phase
of human life. The research problem of this study is the following: how Resistance Training in Physical
Education classes can help in the development of students of fundamental motor skills until the final
grades of Elementary School, a period that generally comprises adolescence? Understanding that
Resistance Training is known as strength training that can be applied to both men and women, the
elderly, children and adolescents, the hypothesis is that the school should encourage the practice of
various motor skills, through sports, dances, fights and games, but it can also use Resistance Training
to improve these fundamental physical skills. In this sense, the objective was to do a bibliographical
survey the literature on Resistance Training, stablishing a discussion on how to develop it in Physical
Education classes for adolescents in the final series of Elementary School. About the methodology, it is
a literature review of the classificatory type, which is based on primary sources that provided the
theoretical basis on the benefits of Resistance Training for adolescents at school. As a result of the
research, it was found that the studied authors show the importance of Resistance Training for the
development of basic motor skills, and it is not just a matter of physical fitness, but mainly of quality of
life. In this context, school Physical Education from the early grades can act positively by inserting
Resistance Training in such an essential period of human development, as it is the adolescence.
