Resumo
In the Amazon region of Vitória, young people from the countryside, the waters and the forests,
through their stories, show their life stories, their resistance and their sense of belonging to the
place. Thus, our studies sought to investigate their realities, through the analysis of the
categories Education in/from the Countryside, Youth and Life Project, based on authors such
as Roseli Caldart, Mônica Molina, Miguel Arroyo, Geraldo Leão, Maria Antunes-Rocha,
Helena Abramo, Degiane Farias, Ivany Nascimento, Sicleide Queiroz and Maurício Tavares.
Thus, we started with the following question: how does the denial of High School impact the
life project of the youth of the Tapereira community? This resulted in the general objective of
understanding how the denial of High School impacts the life project of the youth of the
Tapereira community, as well as its specific objectives, which are to discuss the concepts
Education in/from the Countryside, Youth and Life Project; identify the social, educational and
economic profile of the young people of the Tapereira community; investigate the
displacements of the young people to access high school; and understand how the denial of high
school impacts the life project of the youth of the Tapereira community. The research
methodology brought a qualitative approach that contributed to the clear understanding of the
studied phenomena, the descriptive research made it possible to observe, record and analyze
the data, the data collection techniques and instruments were questionnaire and semi-structured
interview, the analysis and interpretation of the data were carried out through thematic analysis
(TA). The locus of the research was the Tapereira community, located in the Cajari River
Extractive Reserve (RESEX/CA), in the municipality of Vitória do Jari/AP. The research
subjects were young extractivists. The research has social relevance due to the effort to study
the reality of education of rural youth, regarding access to high school, and their life projects.
In this sense, we consider that the youth of the Tapereira community have had their life projects
impacted by the denial of access to secondary education. We observed that many young people
were unable to access it, and those who were able to report how difficult it was to stay in the
city, as well as that it is essential to have education in the community or in the Médio Cajari
region, providing intra-country access.
