Resumo

The construction of hydroelectric plants is part of a scenario of changes caused by humans in search of energy production and have been found at the center of discussions in Brazil and the world. In recent decades these buildings began to focus on the Amazon in view of the great potential for hydroelectric power generation in the region. The State of Amapá is part of this panorama Amazonian large hydro projects where in addition to the sources already operating, others more have been installed. Thus the objective of this research is to identify the impacts of hydroelectric waterfall Cauldron, the epidemiological profile of the population of Porto Grande municipality and how it can influence the epidemiology of American Cutaneous Leishmaniasis (ACL). The area chosen to develop the study was the city of Porto Grande, located 103 km from Macapa, the state capital, which will house the plant together with the neighboring municipality, Ferreira Gomes. To achieve the goal that this work proposed was analyzed the initial phase of the plant deployment process which includes deforestation and its effects on health. Three districts were identified with the highest number of cases of the disease, which led to the definition that for each should be a minimum sample of 10% with the help of the census sectors of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Based on the forms and the National Notification System has been possible to identify the profile of the population affected by the disease in the vicinity of the plant, perceiving that are mostly men (80,62%) in age 20-39 years (50,12%) and brown (78,55%). The data obtained through the forms did not confirm the hypothesis that the increase in LTA of cases in SINAN would result from the influence of HPP Waterfall Cauldron, given that households with disease cases were individuals who have acquired in previous years to 2009. considering the scarcity of studies on the subject in Amapá, this research is extremely important in order to understand the LTA and its relationship with major environmental impacts
