A religião como instrumento de coesão social: o caso de Mazagão Velho!

Abstract

With an extensive calendar of cultural and religious activities, Mazagão The old man has great importance for the history and construction of the identity amapaense. When studying about such manifestations, we perceive their relevance in the memory of the population and how such memories are configured as patrimonies of a tradition of the state of Amapá. This research has the objective of developing an anthropological analysis of cultural traditions, mainly of religious expressions in the city of Mazagão Velho (Amapá), and evaluate the manifestations and symbolic artifacts present in their traditions, which can be seen and analyzed as forming elements of local collective memory, which in turn are linked to the construction of identity and present themselves as cultural heritage of the municipality of Mazagão and, therefore, the state of Amapá. This work will address the following aspects: a) interviews with residents; b) collection of documents; ç) record of images about the city, the religious festivals and the daily life of the community; c) written record with notes on the structure of the city, which has a rich heritage rooted in its religious traditions and cultural heritage, which spans almost two and a half centuries and which until the present currently has few written records.
