Uma análise sobre as diferenças entre interações de surdos e ouvintes com a rede social WhatsApp Messenger

Abstract

In this article we aimed to present an exploratory study checking the main differences in the interaction of listeners and deaf people with social networking Whatsapp Messenger. This application was chosen because it presents a great growth in users, and because it is one of the most popular social networks at present mainly in Brazil. Regarding the empirical work that was done, two techniques were used for the data collection, carried out with deaf and hearing questionnaires application with both groups, and interview with the deaf group. It was found that there are considerable differences between the interaction of deaf and hearing groups, that most stand out are the composition of the contact list, abbreviated messages and the use of some features, such as video call, most used among deaf than the listeners. Thus, these differences may highlight the importance of the inclusive role of Whatsapp Messenger, seen as a beneficial tool for the deaf individual's communication.
