A cidadania em educação como prática de liberdade: uma análise segundo filósofos da educação

Abstract

The conception of citizenship is related to the idea of participation in political, civil and social rights and duties. The construction of citizenship presupposes a struggle for these rights. The role of education in the training of citizens is highlighted. The research seeks to analyze the theoretical assumptions of educational philosophers regarding conceptions of citizenship and its relationship with education. The study highlights the contributions of philosophers of education regarding citizenship and education, based on the social attitudes and actions of individuals and the way citizens live in society. According to the conception of philosophers of education citizenship aims at the formation of individuals capable of making decisions, of living in society, of being an active and conscious citizen, who can understand their reality. The reflections show that the relation between citizenship and dialogical education contribute to the formation of a critical and participatory society, that is, with democratic characteristics, built from the historical-cultural reality.
