"A cultura de Mazagão Velho e a festa de São Tiago das crianças são joias raras": a construção da identidade cultural mazaganense a partir de São Tiago mirim, Mazagão Velho-AP

Abstract

The present dissertation entitled, “The Culture of Mazagão Velho and the Feast of São Tiago of the children are rare jewels”: the construction of the Mazagan cultural identity from the Feast of São Tiago Mirim, Mazagão Velho-AP, aims to investigate how the referred party influences the construction of the cultural identity of Mazagan, based on reflections on the knowledge derived from the community and how this knowledge is presented to the children participating in the festival of São Tiago Mirim. The research is a case study, with a qualitative approach, in which empirical data were collected through: observation, semi-structured interviews, photographic records and description presented by the narratives of the subjects/collaborators in the researched community. The objective of the research is to verify how the experiences acquired by the children in the feast of São Tiago Mirim, dialogue with the processes of community, identity and educational learning. The results show that the community prides itself on protecting and passing on from generation to generation the cultural heritage legacy they inherited from their ancestors, specifically the Feast of São Tiago Mirim in Mazagão Velho, through workshops or the making of instruments used in the festivities existing in the region. community, based on community cultural education. In addition, we discuss how cultural knowledge can be included in pedagogical practices through the construction of didactic-pedagogical material aimed at preserving this ancestral celebration held in Mazagão Velho. And we count on the valuable collaboration of children and young people who are protagonists and manage to re-signify their playing, their corporeity, bringing their feelings, perceptions and understandings about the feast of São Tiago Mirim
