Resumo

Reading skills are essential and supports the study of other areas of knowledge. From the need for methodologies and practice reading the artistic text from the student's high school in the State School Joaquim Nabuco, this article aims to educate the student the importance of literary reading for his humanistic training and meet the promotion of emancipation and expansion of its social and cultural universe. Its development follows the guidelines of quantitative research whose theoretical conception refers to the teaching of literature dedicated to the socio-political and cultural environment of the reader. Thus the literature, to text and quality of art has no commitment to the will of the people, but shows what actually happens in life, even if it displeases. This is the reason why the individual who does not read or reads shallow way, getting the superficiality of reading, is subject to handling social, cultural, political and ideological. And in the social environment, the students surveyed, say that philosophy can facilitate the entry of graduates of high school to the stage of life. The result of this diagnostic tool surprised the point of view of the studied context because most students answered that philosophy and literature are combined, enables reconcile or achieve their academic dreams, after completion of high school, believing that their focus, mainly is the National Secondary Education Examination, both Philosophy and Literature arises as learning objects, including as a means to understand the environment he lives.
