Atividades de lava a jato na região central de Macapá: diagnóstico e previsão de possíveis impactos ambientais

Abstract

Car washes have become a common activity in many Brazilian cities and have been widely used by motor vehicle owners. However, the lack of vigilance over this service can cause environmental impacts, such as soil contamination and, consequently, the water table. In this sense, this work aims to evaluate the situation of car washes in the center of the city of Macapá and discuss the possible environmental effects resulting from the lack of supervision and the possible unpreparedness of those responsible for managing these establishments. To this end, a mapping of this type of enterprise in the central area of Macapá-AP was carried out, followed by data collection, in loco, through the application of a form to the owners, based on the term of reference of the Government of the State of Tocantins for the elaboration of an environmental project of car wash that fall under Resolution COEMA/TO No. 007/2005. The results of the survey indicate that the car washes are in almost all strategic points in the central area of the city. In addition, the absence of storage tanks for waste is an imminent concern, reducing the lack of environmental control in this type of enterprise; It was also found that a minority of enterprises show concern with sustainability by opting for more ecological products and, finally, a large waste of water by establishments was identified, compared to the average values of liters of water used in large urban centers. Therefore, it is necessary for the competent authorities to carry out a stricter inspection of car washes in the city of Macapá, to avoid possible impacts caused by this activity. In addition, it is necessary to sensitize the owners of these establishments about the importance of adopting sustainable practices in the operation of their businesses. The maintenance of these establishments is important to the city, but it is essential that they are managed responsibly and sustainably to avoid damage to the environment.
