Perfil epidemiológico de homens acometidos com neoplasia maligna do pênis em um hospital no município de Macapá: um estudo retrospectivo

Abstract

Objective: To assess the epidemiological profile of men affected by malignant neoplasms of the penis in the municipality of Macapá between the years 2018 and 2022. Methods: Based on the evaluation of medical records of patients with penile neoplasms during the period from 2018 to 2022. Data collection was conducted from medical records using a research template containing information/variables related to the sociodemographic characteristics of men diagnosed with penile cancer. The data were compiled in a database using Microsoft Excel 2007, and multifactorial descriptive analyses were performed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 18.0. In data processing, multivariate factor analysis was applied. Results: Multivariate factor analysis enabled the extraction of 4 components with coefficients above 70% in each factor, labeled respectively as behavioral, individual, socioeconomic, and specific components. Conclusions: Smoking and alcohol consumption, as interdependent factors, along with advanced age, rural area of origin, low educational level, occupation related to agriculture, marital status as married, and history of previous disease, constituted the sociodemographic profile of patients diagnosed with malignant penile neoplasms.
