Resumo

In this study, the main laws and policies related to the inclusive education of deaf students were reviewed, such as disability rights laws, the Brazilian Law of Sign Language Inclusion, and related legislation. These laws establish guidelines and principles for the promotion of educational inclusion and the guarantee of the rights of deaf students. Despite legislative proposals aiming for the inclusion of deaf students, the reality of regular classrooms presents significant challenges. Based on the studies by Quadros (2008), Rossi (2010), Capovilla (2001), and Xavier (2018), this research aimed to analyze the challenges and necessary strategies for implementing inclusive and quality education for deaf students in the regular educational context, such as the lack of teacher preparedness to deal with diversity, the lack of adapted resources and teaching materials, and the architectural and communication barriers present in educational institutions. A qualitative study is presented, highlighting pedagogical practices and the importance of collaboration among educators.
