“Feirão popular” na área central de Macapá: histórico, informalidade e relações de trabalho

Abstract

The study aims to present the historical context through which the creation of the Popular Fair, located in the state of Amapá, in the city of Macapá, as well as the profile of the worker who develops activities in this place. Based on a bibliographical, documentary and field research, this text intends to insert in the academic environment the discussion about informality and informal work represented by the Popular Feira, one of the best known commercial points of Macapá. The research had as subjects the workers, in their different occupations, carried out during the months of February to December of 2016, As a data collection technique, semi-structured questionnaires were used, with 50 questionnaires applied to Feirão workers, 21 interviews between Feirão workers and clients and representatives of public agencies. The study concluded that most of the workers in this informal labor cluster are low-educated, low-income and come from other states, confirming the initial thesis that migratory flow tends to reflect on the phenomenon of informality.
