Resumo
To think about accessibility in school architecture is to reflect on aspects of the environment
that will be determinant in the lives of different people, in a lasting and significant journey of
their lives. Thus, more accessible environments make the school space an active element in
the quality of the learning teaching process. In a light, school architecture should stimulate
flexible and versatile environments for education, integrating internal and external spaces,
with accessibility, urban connection and environmental comfort. Understanding the
importance of the role of accessibility in the field of school architecture is essential to
promote a quality project, with environments conducive to educational development with
social inclusion. Thus, the following question was defined as problematic: what is the
influence of accessibility on school architecture for the potentiation of education? To try to
answer this question, the Municipal Elementary School Sandra Lobato Ferreira, located in the
Ilha Mirim neighborhood, in the peripheral region of the city of Macapá, in the state of
Amapá, was defined as a research site. The general objective of the research is to analyze the
accessibility parameters in the school space in question, as determined by the National Fund
for The Development of Education (FNDE). For this, the following specific objectives were
delimited: a) to evaluate the use of physical environment of the Municipal Elementary School
Sandra Lobato Ferreira; b) verify that the space provides equal use; and c) to present a
proposal for an architectural preliminary project with accessibility as recommended by school
legislation on minimum accessibility requirements, in order to meet the demand of that
community. The research has an exploratory character with a case study, besides based on a
bibliographic review performed by qualitative analysis. Therefore, it is expected that the
result of this study with the proposal of a school preliminary project with accessibility,
contributes to all users having autonomy and independence of use of this space.
