Projeto "Cidades Invisíveis, Pessoas Incríveis”

Abstract

The film “Invisible Cities, Incredible People” is the first documentary made, it is a collaborative effort, and seeks to give voice and visibility to excluded communities on the outskirts of cities in Latin America.

Three different places on the globe were selected: Macapá, in the Brazilian Amazon; Cidade Juarez, in Mexico and Paraisópolis in São Paulo. This documentary is part of the result of the post-doctorate developed by Bianca Moro de Carvalho, under the supervision of Profa. Dr Angélica Benatti Alvim, in the Postgraduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie.

It is part of the project “City, Project and Equity: from Languages ​​and Appropriations to forms of Regulation”, from Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, which is a post-doctoral scholarship, with support from Capes Print, which aims to stimulate international research and in network. The interviews were recorded in Macapá, São Paulo and Cidade Juarez in the neighborhood where each leader works.

The city of Macapá, capital of the state of Amapá, located in the Brazilian Amazon, is presented through the problem of informal settlements, locally called ressacas, a local term to designate a humid area.

The production of this documentary was approved by the ethics committee of Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie on January 19, 2022 (CAAE: 53240421.3.0000.0084). It is a collaborative work, directed by: Bianca Moro de Carvalho, Marina Erendida Contreras-Saldanã and Willian Santiago. Supervised by professor Angélica Benatti Alvim.
