A promessa, a cobra e a vila: uma leitura sobre o imaginário popular da vila de Sucurijú / AP

Abstract

This work aims to develop a anthropological reading about Sucuriju village, located at the eastern end of the state of Amapá. Theoretically substantiate the concept of popular imagery and its implications in community dynamics addressing general aspects of the village in disregard of dynamic geographic and socioeconomic aspects. Analyzing narratives through the context in which the emergence history of the river and hence the name of the town by the promise and the snake and its relationship with the party of Nazareth, the most important event in local life that depicts the relationship between the original village and the river. Thereby highlighting the role of popular imagery and religious beliefs, and their implications in specific way of life of this community.
