Resumo

The Chemistry Curricular Component is inserted in the area of Natural Sciences, requiring the adoption of innovative methodologies to overcome students' difficulties in teaching and learning objects of knowledge. Therefore, it was decided to use a field study in this research, adopting a methodology that aims to analyze the use of educational technology through the educational simulator (PhET Interactive Simulations) in teaching 3D molecules, seeking to demonstrate whether the educational simulator can influence in the teaching and learning process. This research focuses on the use of PhET in explaining the object of knowledge Molecular Geometry. Four classes from the first year of high school were selected as the basis for the research, with classes A and B being the control group (CG) and classes C and D being the experimental group (GE). Data were collected through pre- and post-questionnaires and a complementary activity, aiming to verify the effectiveness of the proposed tool. However, when analyzing the data, it became evident that the use of PhET Simulations educational software to contextualize the object of knowledge facilitates student teaching and learning. Its use helps students understand the purpose of the activity, its development and its result. It was also noticed how this mediation of teaching resources is crucial in the process of appropriating school content
