Abstract

In the current context, when discussing world issues related to conservation of natural resources and technological alternatives that enable to produce food from a sustainable approach. The redemption of traditional managements practices and production systems have been proposed as a strategy to realize overcome socioeconomic and environmental crisis that has been enhanced since the 1970s. In this context, agroecology has emerged as a science that allows you to join the Extractive scientific empirical knowledge to ancient knowledge of traditional communities, family farmers, riparian and Indians accumulated over decades from diversified crops in production systems with an approach that can be considered environmentally friendly. Aiming to locally identify different arrangements, practices and agroforestry management practices developed by farmers of Cafezal, São Jorge, São João and Boa Vista in the Middle Maraca, Maraca PAE region in the city of Mazagão, this dissertation presents a study on the socio-economic aspects and environmental production systems ( APS ), developed by farmers and relates to agroecological principles. With the search results, it is concluded that despite the limitations imposed by the development model adopted SAF has historically guaranteed social, economic and environmental sustainability of farmers
