Análise do perfil sociodemográfico de cuidadores em um grupo de pesquisa e extensão em Macapá

Abstract

Introduction: In Brazil, the number of elderly people has grown in parallel on a global scale, considerably and quickly, which ends up bringing changes in the way society is constituted. In this way, the figure of the caregiver emerges, who is characterized as the individual who takes care of another who is, often partially or completely, weakened by illnesses that make him incapable of carrying out his activities, and this assistance can be carried out by formal caregivers and informal. Objective: To analyze the sociodemographic profile of caregivers of people living with Parkinson's and/or Alzheimer's and correlate it with the findings of other authors. Method: This is an exploratory, descriptive research with a quantitative approach, conducted with 12 caregivers of people living with Parkinson's and/or Alzheimer's, of both sexes, aged between 18 and 60 years. To achieve the objective, data collection took place during the meetings of the REVIVER research and extension project, and the sociodemographic questionnaire adapted from the IBGE was applied after the students explained and the free and informed consent form was signed. The data obtained were organized and analyzed in 3 stages: 1st stage: tabulation for organization and structuring of the data in the Microsoft Office Excel® program; 2nd stage: initial analysis using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) program; 3rd stage: quantitative analysis and interpretation of each item, according to the different values, based on the pertinent literature. Results: The research showed that there is a pattern in most of the data presented by the sociodemographic profile among the caregivers when correlated with those of other similar studies, demonstrating changes in only three sociodemographic aspects of the participants. Conclusion: It is concluded that the population of caregivers of people living with Parkinson's and/or Alzheimer's participating in this study has some sociodemographic characteristics that are different from other studies covered in the work, such as: education, occupation and family income. However, it is worth highlighting that this population studied still has characteristics similar to other individuals, sharing an overload that directly affects their lives.
