As cores da mídia: a educação das relações étnico-raciais como caminho para a promoção da igualdade racial na imprensa do Amapá

Abstract

The process of communication in a society is directly linked to cultural processes, since it enables both the maintenance and the cultural changes of a people. In this perspective, communication is deeply related to social change, since it has significant potential to influence, strengthen or broaden the various social movements, including the fight against racism. In this sense, the media can, according to their capacity to inform the population, and, according to their social function, contribute to the recognition and combat of racism by society in order to stop the process of exclusion and marginalization social and economic development of the black people. But it is not what happens in the practice of Brazilian journalism, according to research in the area. This research aims to analyze how the Ethnic-Racial Relations Education can contribute to change this scenario and encourage the promotion of racial equality in the state of Amapá. For this, the research is based on collaborative methodology, performing an intervention supported in the constructivist pedagogy with academics of Journalism of Macapá (AP). The results obtained from this intervention met the proposed objectives, since it was possible to observe the deconstruction of previous concepts and the behavior change in the subjects studied
