Resumo

Covid-19 is a disease that emerged, in 2020, with high rates of morbidity and mortality worldwide. One of the main characteristics related to this pathology was the set of sequelae in people who were infected by the new coronavirus, being observed in several affected patients, such as fatigue, tiredness, weakness, pulmonary fibrosis, depression, and anxiety. The practice of physical activities is essential for the recovery of individuals after the acute process of the disease and, in addition, it helps to improve their general health, especially when there are previous diseases. Swimming is a very widespread sport in the population and can be practiced by people of different ages, bringing several health benefits, especially in the rehabilitation of respiratory diseases. Therefore, the present study aimed to carry out a bibliographic survey pointing out the advantages and benefits obtained by the practice of swimming in patients with postcovid sequelae. It was possible to observe that the practice of physical activities, especially aerobic ones, are fundamental for the improvement of body functions affected by the disease, and swimming can help in the process of pulmonary rehabilitation, enabling an evolution in the quality of life of the affected individuals.
