Resumo

The Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICT) encompass a resource for implementing new teaching methods aimed at increasing student engagement. There has been growing discussion of DICT as an efficient pedagogical tool that helps students better understand subjects in the classroom. This study conducted an experiment with high school students from the public education system in Macapá. Fourteen classes were selected to participate in thematic lessons on Environmental Chemistry. The classes were divided into two groups: an Experimental group (which used DICT in the delivery of lessons) and a Control group (which had lessons taught using traditional methods). Each class was given evaluative questionnaires before and after the lessons to assess their understanding of the topics covered. After analyzing the questionnaire results, it was found that the experimental group showed improvement in both their questionnaire scores and their perceived interest in the content. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of DICT in teaching methodologies can positively influence the quality of the teaching and learning process.
