Resumo
The ultrasonic wave is a widely used treatment modality in physical therapy practice, is vital to full understanding of its indications and contraindications. One controversial in its application give yourself at little study of its use in the epiphyseal bone growth. The aim of this study was to determine the histological changes occurring in the epiphyseal disk of the tibia in growing mice during exposure to ultrasonic waves of frequency 1MHz. Therefore, 16 albino mice of Swiss strain Webster in growth phase, aged 03 weeks and weighing between 10-15g were randomly divided into 02 groups of 08 animals, designated Dose 01 (0.1 w/cm2) and Dose 02 (0.5 w/cm2), and the control group designated C. Procedures occurred in an application / day, totaling the final ten applications without interruption. The samples were analyzed histologically by hematoxylin-eosin staining techniques, Alcian blue and Von Kossa stains, in order to measure the area of the head versus the tibia epiphysial disc, beyond the thickness of the proliferative and hypertrophic zones. In the statistical analysis we used the Friedman test with Bonferroni correction. It is concluded that the parameters used to positively action of ultrasound occurred in cartilage, bone tissue formation and may not require that level of intensity becomes more significant
