Abstract

We are facing a period of transition in architecture, especially if we take into account the design tools. For each period there is a way of thinking, planning, executing the most diverse works. This work aims to demonstrate the relevance of the use of digital tools for architecture, for that, the different moments that Architecture has lived in the course of history, from its beginnings until today, were taken into account. Currently, new technologies are emerging, such as BIM (Building Information Modeling) which is one of the newest tools to plan, design and even build. In order to demonstrate the importance of digital tools, a synthesis was elaborated on one of the most famous BIM programs currently used, Autodesk Revit, its functionalities, comparison with other programs and the facilities it provides, all using a project completely built using it. , having used most of its tools. The main sources of research and reference were the research papers present in the book “The design process in architecture from theory to tool”, where there are several articles that provide important information about BIM. In addition to them, the tutorials present in the program itself were used, a video-lesson channel on Youtube called “Hi, I am David” where the instructor teaches the ways to use Revit and provides a lot of information about BIM, as well as various sites, such as the one from the company Autodesk, which has a lot of information, in addition to the curiosity of clicking on the tool symbol and waiting for the result.
