Resumo

In Brazil, Bothrops are responsible for 90% of snakebites. The pathophysiology of poisoning caused by venomous snakes is complex and involves local and systemic changes and serum therapy is the only treatment recommended. However, serum antiophidic not effectively neutralizes the local effects of Bothrops poisoning. Thus, the search for active compounds capable of neutralizing the local effects produced by these accidents is a clear need. In the State of Amapá, the specie Brosimum guianense (Aubl.) Huber is popularly used in the treatment of bites by venomous snakes. In this study, tests were performed in vivo and in vitro evaluation of EBG's ability to inhibit the activities edema, hemolytic indirectly by phospholipase A2, myotoxic, inflammatory, nociceptive, bleeding and coagulation induced by the venom of B. atrox. The results showed that the EBG was not effective in neutralizing the coagulant activities and indirectly by hemolytic phospholipase A2 induced by snake venom B. atrox. When tested in vivo, the EBG did not show efficacy in inhibiting inflammatory activity, myotoxic and edema. However, it was observed that this extract has active compounds with inhibitory properties and the bleeding on nociception triggered by the venom under study. Therefore, it becomes necessary for studies of fractionation and purification of EBG and subsequent tests to assess the effects of these compounds on the activities triggered by the toxic venom of Bothrops atrox
