Resumo
The discipline of chemistry makes it possible to clarify scientific contents and their formulas, as well as knowing where they are needed in our daily lives. In the internships, we can notice that there is a reluctance of the students in the study of the discipline of chemistry, because as the content is passed on in the classroom, they believe that there is no co-existing relationship with their daily life. In this study, we problematize the damage caused by improper disposal of cooking oil, one of which is sewage clogging, which in turn can generate major environmental problems. This study is quantitative and qualitative. In the methodology, we chose to use the SD (didactic sequence) with a transversal theme of Preservation of the Environment and the reuse of oil used in domestic frying through the process of making homemade soap, as a satisfactory alternative to approach the reality of the students during the Chemistry classes. Data were obtained by applying the Diagnosis (initial) and Post-diagnosis (final) questionnaires. Our results show that, where eighty (80) students, 74 answered that they did not know about the subject, it was observed that the results improved significantly according to the final questionnaire, where about 80% of the students already answered knowing the importance of knowledge about the storage and reuse of residual oil, and its impacts caused by the inappropriate disposal of cooking oil in the environment. With the present study, it was possible to relate the chemistry discipline with the student's daily life, thus deconstructing the idea of a traditional/formal teaching, through the theme Preservation of the Environment and the reuse of oil used in domestic frying
