The tableware makers (craftswomen) of the quilombo do Maruanum, in the state of Amapá, are a group of women who have a centuries-old tradition of making earthenware, mixing ancestry, social technologies, an artistic system, biodiverse elements and symbolism typical of their multiple identities. It is a qualitative research, with exploratory and descriptive objectives; the procedures used were bibliographic, documental and field research. In the field study, a semi-structured interview script was applied to two informants, the Community craftswomen. The analysis of the data resulted in notes of possible paths in the dialogue of knowledge in the Amazon. The contextualization of the cultural heritage of traditional communities in the teaching of chemistry evidences new forms of cognition for the learning of young people and adults. In this sense, the relationship between the chemistry of tableware, transmitted orally, and the teaching of chemistry at the regular high school level, allows for a promising quality in the understanding of basic concepts in the formation of students, in addition to incorporating important aspects of heritage and cultural education. environment in the scope of science in the Amazon
