Resumo

The short film “Agora já foi” is a spiritist production from Amapá with a plot directed to the awareness of young people in social vulnerability about abortion and suicide, leading an audiovisual proselyte movement from the state, due to had been the first religious movie production of Amapá to be nationally awarded. This research aimed to reflect upon the way the federated spiritist represent themselves, saw the world and symbolized the main themes in the short film. It was problematized the intentions of the Amapaense spiritist movement when using this audiovisual tool and having hypotheses they dialogued beside orientation of Espiritist Federalization of Brazil (FEB) to the control and solidity of artistic spiritist practices placing self in the religious industry. It was concluded that the spiritist movement connected to the FEB is building up a cultural audiovisual industry forward to the masses and the short film is inserted in this formation in response of the national federation call, this reverberated to the promotion of audiovisuals in the state and to the spiritualist artistic practices in the local scene. Symbolizing this way a historical source of memory, culture, and identity of the northern spiritist people of Amapá. The research was held through theoretical examinations in biographies, film analyses, and also interviews given by the short movie producers at the time of premiere and disclosure of the short movie
