Resumo
Mosquitoes are cosmopolitan insects and colonize almost all regions of the planet. With varied feeding habits, they perform diverse functions in nature. Mosquitoes are constantly the object of study, mainly because many play a relevant role as vectors of pathogens that cause diseases, posing a threat to millions of people. They are responsible for parasitic diseases such as malaria and filariasis, and various arboviruses widely distributed throughout the world, such as yellow fever, dengue, chikungunya, zika, encephalitis, and other viral diseases. The uncontrolled growth of cities, deforestation, and other natural processes can lead to an increase in the density of vectors and the incidence of positive cases of arboviruses. In vector control programs, especially for arboviruses caused by vectors of the genus Aedes, entomological surveillance is carried out using various traps for sampling immature and adult stages. The objective of this study is to use ovitraps to understand the biodiversity of culicids (Insecta: Diptera) in the Amazon Biopark, Macapá – AP. A total of 316 traps were installed in indoor and outdoor environments of the built area of the Amazon Biopark, an urban area of Macapá. The natural and artificial breeding sites of culicids were characterized and evaluated during the study. Seventeen species of culicids were identified, with six species present in traps and 15 in breeding sites. The most abundant species was Aedes albopictus, which occurred in traps in forest environments and breeding sites. With the results of this study, it was possible to observe that ovitraps are sensitive to Culex spp., that seasonality influences the abundance of Ae. aegypti and Ae. albopictus in urban forest fragments in the metropolitan area of Macapá, and to record the occurrence of Aedes terrens in the state of Amapá.
