Resumo
Chicory (Eryngium foetidum L.) is a species of the Apiaceae family, an aromatic herb with phytotherapic properties, being widely used as a seasoning vegetable. This species, when spontaneously propagates, presents low leaf mass yield and, once the cultivation substrate is improved, through different doses of nitrogen fertilization, the leaf yield tends to improve. The present work evaluated the morphological aspects of chicory submitted to chemical and organic fertilization. The research was carried out at the Federal University of Amapá, Mazagão campus, in a partially protected environment. Seminiferous propagation with seeds obtained from an orchard in the urban area of Mazagão was used. The experiment model was a completely randomized design (DIC), established with four treatments and five replications. The treatments were performed: T1: only black soil; T2: black earth and urea; T3: terra preta and N.P.K 10.10.10; T4: black earth and buffalo dung. The black soil was collected on family property in the rural area of Mazagão, and later chemical analysis was carried out. The buffalo manure was purchased in the rural area of Mazagão, and N.P.K and urea in Casa Agropecuária in the city of Macapá-AP. Plant height was counted and measured (22 days after sowing). After germination, the seedlings were transplanted to containers, the number of leaves, number of leaves at the point of harvest (length, width and mass), the three main leaves (length and width) and height of the bush were analyzed, this parameter was performed the four counts (40, 50, 60 and 70 days after germination). The treatments terra preta and terra preta + NPK provided higher averages in the analyzed parameters, with the exception of germination, so it is recommended to use 100% organic substrates for sowing chicory, starting with transplanting, allying with low cost and availability of these to farmers
