Fourteen species of PANCs, Alfavaca Ocimum basilliccum L., Beldroega Portulaca oleracea L., Caruru Amaranthus viridis L., Chicory Eryngium foetidum L., Jambú Acmella oleracea. (L) R.K. Jansen, Maria-mole Senecio brasiliensis. (Spreng.) Less, Mastruz Dysphania ambrosioides. (L.) Mosyakin & Clemants, Taioba Xanthosoma sagittifolium. (L.) Schott, Nettle Urtica dioica L, Sweet potato Ipomoea potatoes. (L.) Lam., Ginger Zingiber officinale ROSCOE, Major-Gomes Talinum paniculatum. The best known species, crops, abundant and used as medicines in the communities surveyed were Alfavaca, Beldroega, Caruru, Chicory, Jambú, Maria-mole and Mastruz. Knowledge about PANCs was acquired daily by observation, as well as through cultural means, being passed from the most experienced to the youngest from generation to generation about which species could be used as a spice alternative, medicine, among others. others. 100% of participants are unaware of the nutritional components of PANCs, yet know that they are good for animals.
