Cooperação humanitária e a atuação brasileira (2005-2016)

Abstract

This Scientific paper aims to discuss Brazil as an actor in International Humanitarian Cooperation, presenting an overview of Brazilian activity in this sort of international cooperation, which became central to Brazilian foreign policy strategies in the 2000s; for this purpose, its operational and financial data will be considered. The article is divided into two parts: the first one deals with essential concepts and fundamentals to think about international cooperation and understanding its evolution to the current model. The second part presents exclusively the Brazilian experience in humanitarian cooperation, its advances and obstacles. At the end of the survey, the need to institutionalize Brazilian humanitarian cooperation was concluded, in order that the country fulfills its commitment to the defense of fundamental human rights and, consequently, greater international insertion and gains for national interests.
